Department of Transportation (DOT) Same-Day Physicals in Murray Hill, NY
If you commercially drive a truck, bus, or another type of motor vehicle, you’re likely no stranger to Department of Transportation physicals or DOT tests. These health examinations are required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for any individual who is planning to operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV), ensuring drivers can handle the intense emotional, physical, and mental demands of the job. To help CMV drivers receive the mandated testing they need, MedRite Urgent Care accepts walk-in appointments for DOT physicals every day during extended hours at our Murray Hill, New York, center. We also accept most major insurance plans and do not require referrals.
What To Expect During a DOT Physical
CMV drivers, like yourself, are expected to not only physically handle long hours on the road but mentally cope with the stress of operating a commercial vehicle. This exertion can put a lot of strain on your health which is why, at MedRite, we take these physicals seriously. During the exam, a certified medical examiner (CME) will review your health history and examine your:
- Neck and back
- Arms, hands, legs, and feet
- Mouth and throat
- Heart, lungs, and chest
Your CME will also check your vital signs, perform a urinalysis, and test your vision and hearing to ensure that you can safely operate a vehicle. Once the exam is complete and your CME clears you, you’ll receive a copy of the Medical Examiner’s Certificate for your employer’s records.
