Department of Transportation (DOT) Physicals Performed Near Turtle Bay
Does your job involve driving a truck, bus, or another commercial motor vehicle (CMV) in New York City? To maintain your commercial driver’s license (CDL), you are required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to undergo and pass DOT physicals on a regular basis. This specific type of health examination is designed to keep you and the general public safe by ensuring that you are able to meet the rigorous physical, mental, and emotional demands of your “safety-sensitive” occupation.
Of course, as a CMV driver, your schedule is often busy and unpredictable, so you don’t need the extra hassle of having to schedule an appointment for your DOT physical. With MedRite Urgent Care, you don’t have to. Unlike many doctor’s offices, MedRite specializes in occupational health care and performs DOT physicals on a walk-in basis every day during extended hours. We welcome you to come to our urgent care center near Turtle Bay for your DOT physical whenever your schedule allows.
What Do DOT Physicals Include?
At MedRite, DOT physicals involve meeting with a board-certified physician who is also a DOT-certified medical examiner (CME). Your CME will review your health history, check your vital signs, and examine your:
- Eyes and ears
- Mouth and throat
- Heart, lungs, and chest
- Arms, hands, legs, and feet
- Neck and back
Your CME will also test your vision and hearing, perform a urinalysis, and ask if you have any past or present medical issues, such as high blood pressure, seizures, and sleep disorders.
Following your DOT physical, your CME will determine whether you are fit to hold a position as a CMV driver. If so, you will receive a copy of the Medical Examiner’s Certificate, which will confirm that you have received the necessary clearance from an authorized medical professional.
